The Bramhope Bowls Club

Back to our home page

Whilst a bowls club existed in Bramhope between the two world wars it eventually ceased to operate due to lack of support. Bramhope Bowls Club was re-formed in 1985 with assistance from the Sports and Parish Councils, a local trust and the Robert Craven (Village) Hall in whose grounds the green is located. The green was laid under the direction of Joe Maiden, the well known horticulturist and BBC Radio Leeds gardening expert and is recognised as one of the best in the area.

Th e Club now has more than 60 members enjoying social bowling, friendly matches and league competition. It plays matches against visiting teams coming from a wide area including areas of north and west Leeds, Guiseley, Otley, Ilkley, Huby, Calverley, Menston, Burley in Wharfedale, Baildon and Saltaire. The league team plays in the Airedale and Wharfedale League on Monday and Wednesday evenings as well as Saturday afternoons.

There are also regular club competitions together with a range of varied social activities including bowling holidays.

New members of all ages from 16 and above are always welcome and for beginners we are able to offer use of all equipment and provide tuition.

Bramhope Bowls Club is an integral part of the village community and we are always considered to be a friendly and sociable club, so please come along – you’ll be surprised how much fun bowling can be!
